Role Purpose

This is a progressive role aimed at a junior graduate or someone moving from a second job into technical sales and technology.

You will start by supporting the sales team with preparation of cost estimates and desktop quotes, building familiarity with OTS products and processes. Over time, you will transition to site surveys, face-to-face client meetings, and eventually take ownership of technology-led solutions — from fuel monitoring systems to data-driven reporting tools — becoming a Technology-focused Technical Sales Specialist within the OTS team.

Key Responsibilities

Early / Foundation Phase (Year 1)

  • Assist the sales team in preparing cost estimates and generating desktop quotes.

  • Maintain product information, pricing sheets, and quote tracking systems.

  • Support report preparation (e.g. site data, compliance requirements).

  • Liaise with design and manufacturing teams to clarify technical requirements.

Growth Phase (Year 2)

  • Receive structured product and technology training (tanks, fuel management systems, IoT devices, compliance).

  • Join supervised site surveys: capture measurements, collect client data, understand site conditions.

  • Support client meetings and demonstrations of OTS products and technology solutions.

Technology & Technical Sales Phase (Year 3+)

  • Lead site surveys independently, including specifying and recommending technology solutions (e.g. fuel management systems, remote monitoring sensors, data dashboards).

  • Present technical proposals and technology solutions to clients, demonstrating ROI and operational benefits.

  • Support implementation of technology solutions on site, ensuring a smooth handover.

  • Become the internal champion for new technology products and services: contribute to product development, pilot projects, and market feedback.

  • Build strong client relationships and act as their trusted technical advisor for ongoing service and technology upgrades.

Skills, Qualifications & Personal Attributes

Essential

  • Degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or similar.

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills; comfortable interpreting data and costs.

  • Excellent communication skills: able to prepare clear reports and explain technical concepts simply.

  • Strong interest in technology, digital tools, and data-driven solutions.

  • Organised, detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with fuel management systems, IoT devices, or SCADA platforms.

  • Knowledge of UK fuel storage regulations and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience using CAD or technical drawing software.

  • Previous exposure to technical sales or client-facing roles.

What’s on Offer

  • Annual Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

  • Working Hours: 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday

  • Holidays: 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays
